Mangalore: DNA Team Leaves for Hyderabad with 80 Samples of 22 Bodies

Mangalore, May 24: A total of 80 samples in relation to 22 bodies have been collected and the DNA team from ministry of science and technology has returned to Hyderabad with samples, said police commissioner Seemanth Kumar.

Addressing presspersons on Monday May 24, commissioner said that the results after the tests to be conducted at labs in Hyderabad will be made available as expeditiously possible for speedy handing over of the bodies to victims’ relatives. Out of 158 bodies, postmortem of 136 bodies have been carried out and handed over to the relatives.

First Informer of the Crash

Commissioner acknowledging the presence of mind of Mohammed Sameer, resident of Malavoor, Kenjar informed that he was the first one to inform about the crash to the department through the control room. “I later contacted Sameer for the confirmation and details on the incident.

One of the survivors, Joel Prathap D’Souza also called the control room to inform about the incident. The villagers’ help and support towards the rescue operations and in retrieval of bodies was immense.

In-charge deputy commissioner Prabhakar Sharma was also present.
