Mangaluru, Dec 10: A complaint had been made to the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district on July 4 this year, drawing his attention to the discrepancies happening in the reports relating to the throat swab tests of patients in private hospitals. The investigation into this complaint has been initiated now after a gap of five months, at a time when coronavirus infection is on the wane.

Complainant Ummer U H said that he had observed that there were bungling in the throat swab test reports conducted by private hospitals. "In order to see that the aggrieved get justice and towards stopping such instances from happening, I had complained about it on July 4. But the investigating officer, through a letter dated December 2, asked me to record my statement on Wednesday, December 9. Already the period of intense corona spread has passed. Even if I present myself personally, society will not get any benefit. Therefore, I submitted my statement through e-mail,", he explained.

Ummer condemned the measure being taken to hold the investigation into a public interest complaint after a delay of five months. He opines that this is a waste of time of himself and that of the investigating officer and that the society will not stand to benefit. He has requested the concerned to respond to public interest complaints at least one priority.
