Bengaluru, Dec 13: Rumours are rife that former union minister C M Ibrahim, who is feeling sidelined in the Congress party, is about to quit Congress.

What has boosted this belief is his recent meeting with JD(S) leader and former chief minister Kumaraswamy at the latter's residence. After this meeting, the rumours have become stronger that Ibrahim may quit Congress anytime.

In the wake of these developments, KPCC president D K Shivakumar met Ibrahim on Sunday, December 13.

According to sources, D K Shivakumar listened to Ibrahim's woes and also tried to pacify and convince him not to leave the party. However, no specific assurance has come from Ibrahim's end.

C M Ibrahim, who was earlier in JD (S) had identified himself as a close aide of former chief minister Siddaramaiah. However, in the past few years all has not been well between them. It is said that Ibrahim has bitter feelings about Siddaramaiah.

It is learnt that C M Ibrahim expressed his unhappiness with the Congress party when he spoke to former CM Kumaraswamy at his residence in Benson Town. It is said that he expressed rage against the behaviour of some of the Congress leaders including Siddaramaiah. He has also said, according to sources, that Siddaramaiah is not like before but has changed in his attitude.

There is also news making the rounds that Kumaraswamy has offered Ibrahim the post of state president of JD(S). However, Ibrahim has not officially said anything on this subject.
