Mangaluru, Dec 15: Police personnel of Mulky station have succeeded in arresting two persons who committed thefts from temples, residences and business centres. Things worth about Rs four lac were confiscated from their possession.
Rajesh Naik alias Raju Pamudi (42) and Padma Pamudi (37) were arrested. The couple had set up residences at Manchi, Manipal, and other places in coastal Karnataka during which period they engaged in thefts. They were arrested from Janata Colony, Dharwad, by the police.
The duo has been accused of stealing from the residence of Somasundar Anchan and Hasanabba in Mulky, Prakash Jewellery at Charanti Pete Mulky, Mariamma temple in Akkasaliogara Keri, Mookambika temple and other places. About 62 grams of gold ornaments, two and half kilograms silver items and other goods were recovered from them.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of police commissioner Vikash Kumar and deputy commissioners of police Hariram Shankar and Vinay A Gaonkar under the leadership of city north assistant commissioner of police Belliappa, by Mulky police inspector Kusumadhar and sub-inspectors Dejappa and Vinayak Toragal with the support of police personnel.
