Bengaluru, Dec 18: The main suggestions contained in the guidelines issued by the state government concerning celebration of Christmas and New Year are against shaking of hands and hugs.

State chief secretary T M Vjay Bhaskar, has issued a circular containing the new guidelines. The guidelines say that the organisers should take steps to ensure that on Christmas, not too big crowd comes together in churches. It has also banned coming together of people without following social distance norms at pubs, clubs, restaurants and similar other spots and areas, and organizing of planned parties like DJ, dance and other events.

Gathering of people without social distance in main roads, public places etc on New Year has also been banned. However, normal activities can be undertaken at these places.

Police commissioners and deputy commissioners can impose added restrictions on select roads and places.

People aged above 65 and children below ten cannot venture out of houses. Use of sanitisers and wearing of masks are compulsory. Thermal scanning and sanitisers in hotels, malls and pubs are compulsory.

To facilitate social distance maintenance, hotels, malls, pubs and restaurants should introduce online booking system and entry through queues. Social distance maintenance is mandatory and only green crackers are allowed.
