Bengaluru, Dec 19: In connection with the death of the deputy superintendent of police (DySP) in the criminal investigation department (CID) here, V Laxmi, the police questioned a few people including her friends, relatives and other acquaintances to bring out the truth behind her death, which is claimed to be a suicide. Four of her friends, who had been taken into custody on Thursday, are being questioned further. However, the cellphone belonging to Laxmi is yet to be traced.
Six people including Laxmi's relatives and friends were questioned in Annapoorneshwarinagar police station, here, on Friday. The police gathered information about her recent activities. Similarly, they plan to question her colleagues.
Laxmi's friend, Manohar alias Manu, and his friend, Prajwal, are being interrogated further. Manu reportedly claimed that Laxmi who arrived at his home on Wednesday at around 8 pm had consumed liquor. "The friends were involved in discussions on several topics. She was angry during the discussions, went into a room and closed the door. We waited for her to return. We heard some things falling down inside the room. We knocked at the door but there was no response. Together we broke open the door and saw that Laxmi was trying to end her life by tying her veil to the rod of the window. We brought her down and took her to the hospital. Her body was warm then. However, the doctor at the hospital, she was declared dead," he claimed.
It is learnt that Prajwal has not been cooperating with the investigation. His background is yet to be verified. Rahul as well as Ranjith who is a cook said that Laxmi usually took part in the party and returned immediately after dinner but they could not throw light on what the topics of discussion on Wednesday were.
