Beltangady, Dec 19: In Kokkada of Beltangady taluk, nature is adored in a temple. In the 'Kori Jathre' festivity that takes place in the Vaidyanatheshwara temple near here, green grass is offered to God Vaidyanatheshwara, who is considered as the 'Doctor of Doctors' as part of vow. The devotees of this area, most of whom are agriculturists, firmly believe that offering green grass to Lord Vaidyanatheshwara will cure all diseases. On the yearly temple festival, the devotees put grass on the paddy field and complete their vow.

On the day of Kori Jathre, men, women and children carry green grass to the temple. Lord Vaidyanatheshwara is the divine doctor for the people and their cattle of this area. Whenever any person or cattle is sick, they offer green grass in the paddy field owned by the temple authority. The cattle are made to just get into the same paddy field of the temple and the disease gets cured, believe the devotees of this temple.

While devotees offer green grass as offering, they are given water and mud of the paddy field as Prasadam. People from faraway places also visit this temple to complete their vows, as they know the power of this holy place. Once the disease is completely cured, they visit the temple and offer green grass.
