Kasargod, Dec 21: A gang who came in a boat to Manjeshwar sea and kidnapped two policemen was taken into custody. The abducted policemen were released at Mangaluru port. The incident took place on the afternoon of Monday, December 21. Coastal police and a team led by Kumble-Shiria sub-inspector K V Rajiv team were inspecting the documents of Karnataka registered boats in Manjeshwar sea when following suspicions they took a boat into custody. There were 12 people on the boat.

The police had then directed the boat to proceed and dock at Manjeshwar port. The boat also had two policemen identified as Raghu and Sudheer on board. However, the gang did not do as directed and sped away with the boat. K V Rajiv Kumar and other policemen soon reached Manjeshwar port and were informed that the boat was speeding away to another location. Following which, senior police officials in Kasargod immediately contacted Mangaluru police. The coastal police heaved a sigh of relief when they were told that the boat had reached Mangaluru and the two policemen were safe.

Coastal police said that the boat was taken into custody as it did not have necessary documents.

    This criminal act of kidnapping Police personnel shows how important it is to enforce laws of the land with a well trained coastal police and coast guard naval boats armed when necessary. Otherwise smugglers and criminal elements will take laws into their own hands. Soon smuggling of illegal drugs, and arms will be in the country. It is will be too late then if enforcement is delayed!
