Kundapur, Dec 22: RTI activist from Thombattu Kabbinale in Machchattu village in the taluk within the limits of Amasebail gram panchayat Ashok Shettigar (45), his wife Shreenidhi (40), son Ashwain (16) and daughter Ashika (14) were found from Koppa on Monday.
Ashok had locked his house and left home. He was not seen since December 15, after which his nephew Shivakumar, had filed missing complaint with the police. Policemen of Amasebail station who registered the case, formed a team to investigate the case from different angles. In the meanwhile, the family was found at Koppa, and the case saw a happy ending.
Reportedly, there is dispute over landed property between Ashok and his relative. The police had suspected that Ashok might have acted out the missing drama because of this issue. The police found that the app showed his mobile location as Ballari briefly before being switched off. It is learnt that Ashok who knew a person named Mahesh working in a hotel at Ballari had stayed with him there. Ashok got Mahesh to call Shivakumar asking him to register a missing complaint, and the same was lodged in Amasebail station. The police found that Shivakumar used to convey the developments to Mahesh frequently.
Ashok had left his wife and two children at the parental home of Shreenidhi at Koppa. Later, he returned to Koppa. The police who came to know of his return, went to Koppa on December 21 and brought the family to Amasebail police station where they were allowed to go home after obtaining statements.
In their written statements given to the police, Ashok and his wife said that they had left home out of fear about a land dispute they have with certain relatives.
