Karwar, Dec 23: “Gram panchayat elections have importance as people can elect candidates in the village administration. BJP takes the gram panchayat elections seriously and provides opportunities to candidates who emphasise rural development,” said Shivamogga MP B Y Raghavendra. He was speaking in a news conference held at the Siddapur BJP office.
“Some organizations in the guise of farmers, Congress and other opposing parties are protesting against the Farm Acts in parts of Delhi. The Farm Acts were not formed all of a sudden. Meetings about them were held in 2014 and discussions were held with ministers of agriculture of 14 states. There was a mention of Farm Acts even in the election manifesto of the Congress party. But they oppose them now as BJP will get the credit for their implementation."
"The birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will be celebrated on December 25 and Rs 18 crore will be deposited into the bank accounts of farmers as part of the second instalment of Krishi Samman Nidhi scheme on that occasion. The Byndoor constituency is being developed as a model under the leadership of Byndoor MLA B M Sukumar Shetty. The DPR for supplying drinking water to every house has already been implemented,” he added.
Answering to a question by reporters about the implementation of Kasturi Rangan report, he said that Gadgil report in the past was useful to 25% of the people. “Kasturi Rangan report is in favour of 75% of the people. The state government has drawn the attention of the centre in this respect. The environment minister at the centre will also be informed about it. We are facing the situation as the Congress government which was ruling in the state earlier had not explained the matter to the centre,” he said.
Answering about Kodachadri roadway he said that opinions pro and against during the implementation of such projects are normal. “There will be anxiety as the environment is valuable. The roadway will be constructed without affecting the environment,” he said.
