Mangaluru, Dec 23: Members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal staged a stir demanding that the state government hand over the graffiti case which expressed support to terror outfits to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

The protest was held in front of the taluk office here on Wednesday, December 23.

Speaking on the occasion, Bajrang Dal state convener Sunil K R said, "The police have arrested three accused who have expressed their support to terror outfits by scribbling graffiti on the walls in the city, recently. The accused in their possession had provocative speeches of Abdullah el-Faisal and books related to terrorism. This is a very dangerous development. There is a conspiracy behind this. Therefore, it would be wise if this case is handed over to the NIA."

He also said that the VHP and Bajrang Dal condemns the recent assault on a police constable. "The Hindu society will always be with the police department and the defence forces. Our coastal area is a sea of Hindutva. VHP and Bajrang Dal will not allow any terror activities to take place. The head and hands will not be spared of those who are involved in terror activities. Police should use their weapons when they are assaulted," he said, demanding that the state government set up an NIA sub-office in Mangaluru.

VHP vice-president Vasudeva Gowda said, "It is proved that when there are terrorist activities in the country, the link happens to be in Kasargod, Mangaluru and Udupi. Those who speak against Hindus and the country are also terrorists, he said.

VHP district president Gopal Kuthar, district secretary Shivananda Mendon, vice-president Manohar Suvarna, Bajrang Dal Mangaluru divisional convener Bujanga Kullal, district convener Punith Athavar and others were present.

A memorandum was also submitted to the home minister through the deputy commissioner on the occasion.
