Bengaluru, Dec 24: BBMP administrator Gaurav Gupta said that he has instructed to complete the Smart City road construction projects as soon as possible.
He inspected road construction works at Dickenson Road, Halasuru Road, Commercial Street road, Raj Bhavan Road, Kamaraj Road, and Nehru Planetarium Road, on Thursday.
Speaking to media persons, he said 36 roads at the centre of the city are being developed under the Smart City project in Tender Sure model.
He said the officials have been instructed to complete the works at the Raj Bhavan Road, Race Course Road, Nehru Planetarium Road and Hayes Road.
The rest of the construction work, including 10 road works in January 2021, will be completed at the earliest. In case of delay in work by the contractor, a notice will be issued, and a fine will be imposed according to the regulations, he said.
The administrator, who started the inspection work from Dickenson Road, was displeased with the slow pace of work.
He instructed the officials to speed up the work while resolving the issues at hand. Safety measures such as barricades must be set up during the construction work. The pile of mud on the roadside must be cleared and duct must be closed properly on the sidewalk, the administrator said.
He later visited Halasuru road, Kamaraj Road, Commercial Street Road, Raj Bhavan road, and Nehru Planetarium road and inspected the ongoing road construction works.
The BBMP administrator also instructed the officers to make sure people are not inconvenienced by the road construction works. He also asked the officials to temporarily asphalt the roads that have been dug up during the construction work, to ensure smooth movement for the public.
