Udupi: Tamil Nadu based fisherman goes missing, case filed

Udupi, Dec 24: A Tamil Nadu-based fisherman who had gone fishing in Malpe sea with three other men fell in the water accidentally from the boat and is now reported to be missing.

Fishermen Keshava, Umesh, Rajkumar and Jayaprakash of Tamil Nadu had gone fishing at about 3.30 pm in a boat named Devi Chamundeshwari belonging to Udupi, Malpe resident Sathish Shetty on December 21.

 

When they had indulged in deep-sea fishing about 27 furlongs away from the shore, the force of the storm in the sea grew intense around 7.30 pm and the fishing boat began to sway out of control. Following which, Jayaprakash fell from the boat and into the water. The other fishermen tried their best to rescue him, however, they lost the sight of him. Other boats in the vicinity also joined in the search operation but Jayaprakash was nowhere to be found.

A police case under serial number 109/2020 under the section of missing persons has been registered in Malpe police station on the basis of the complaint received from C Dhanashekar (55), resident of Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu.
