Mangaluru, Dec 26: Weaving and other skill development training programme for twenty trainees started at Talipady weavers society recently. This six months training program is organised by Kadike Trust Karkala with financial assistance by Nabard Karnataka. Out of 20 trainees, 10 have undergone two months of basic training. Due to the relentless work of Kadike Trust after a gap of two decades, the young generation is coming back to weaving. This is a phenomenal change compared to the diminishing number of weavers in the twin districts in these years. This will be a giant step in the revival efforts of Kadike Trust.
Gerald Rego, the chief manager of Union Bank, Kinnigoli branch gave detailed information to the trainees, regarding banking, housing loan, benefits of self-help groups etc. Sangeetha Kartha, DDM Nabard Mangaluru participated online. Mamatha Rai, president of Kadike Trust, Chikkappa Shetty, secretary of Kadike Trust, Ananda Shettigar, president of Tailpady weavers Co-op society, Madhava Shettigar, MD of Talipady Weavers Society, trainers, Sanjeeva Shettigar and Shantha Shettigar were present on the occasion.
