Mangaluru: COVID test - Those who came from abroad test negative

Mangaluru, Dec 26: COVID (RT-PCR) tests performed on the people who recently arrived at the airport here from the United Kingdom and other countries concluded on Friday December 25. The health department officials confirmed that none of these passengers suffered from the deadly infection.

As many as 66 persons had arrived here from Britain after December 7. It was decided to perform tests on them in view of the reported detection of new strains of coronavirus in that country. Three among them have gone back to England while the others were staying in Mangaluru and other places. Tests were performed in two phases on Wednesday and Thursday. All reports were received by Friday, and all of them tested negative, confirmed district health officer Dr Ramachandra Bairy.

Health officials said that 31 persons came to Udupi district after November 28 from different countries including the United Kingdom. They said that 28 among them have tested negative. Out of them, one is from Dakshina Kannada and two are from Bengaluru who have not come to undergo the tests. Therefore, the district does not face any worry as of now.
