Bantwal, Dec 26: “Victory and loss are normal in elections. Regardless of the result of gram panchayat elections, keeping in constant touch with people, upholding the Congress party principles and working for the progress of the party are the ways to repay the debt of the party,” said former minister B Ramanath Rai.
He was speaking in a meeting held at Sparsha Kalamandir, B C Road to congratulate Congress candidates who contested in gram panchayat elections.
“The programme is held to congratulate the party activists who were not cowed down by the atmosphere of fear created by BJP. We should prepare for taluk panchayat and district panchayat elections that will be held in another three or four months.
“The results are in the hands of voters. The ups and downs in politics are normal. Congress has been facing them for long. I will not forget the debt of the Congress party and the activists.
“The price of oil and gas is increasing day by day. The BJP government is filling the stomachs of capitalists by snatching from the pockets of poor people. There was corruption even during the Corona pandemic. People are suffering due to unscientific electricity bills,” he said.
District panchayat member Chandraprakash Shetty welcomed and gave an introduction. He said that the leaders who were given authority and nurtured have deserted the party. “But we need not worry. Activists are important for the party. Ramanath Rai will become MLA once again in Bantwal with their support,” he said.
District panchayat member Padmashekaer Jain, taluk panchayat vice president Abbas Ali, standing committee president Mallika V Shetty, Bantwal municipal council president Mohammed Sharif, block Congress president Baby Kunder, Sudeep Shetty, Bantwal ladies Congress president Jayanti Poojary, Youth Congress president Prashanth Kulal, APMC former president Padmanabha Rai, municipal councillor Janardhan Chendthimar, Sudarshan Jain, Ammu Rai Harkadi and Mayilappa Salian were on the dais.
