Udupi, Dec 29: Sowjanya S Shetty M, faculty in Economics at Poornaprajna College, here, was awarded PhD by the Tumkur University for her thesis titled 'The Role Of Higher Education in Economic Empowerment of Women: A case study in Udupi District'.

The research scholar was successfully guided by Dr Ramesh Salian of Tumkur University.
