Mangaluru: Based on promise of gift, man dupes lady of Rs 13.35 lac

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Dec 29: In a case filed with the cyber police station here by a woman, she said that a person robbed her of Rs 13.35 lac after promising to send a gift on her daughter's birthday.

It is learnt that the lady, received a friend request on her Facebook account from a person who identified himself as Dr Gym Kia. She accepted the request after which the two got to know each other well. This developed into WhatsApp chat. Kia used to send WhatsApp messages to her. In the recent past, Kia told her through a message that he would be sending a gift on the birthday of the lady's daughter.

He later told her that the customs officers would be delivering her a gift but a sum of Rs 13.35 lac has to be paid to them to get the gift released. He claimed that his account had some technical problem and promised to remit money as soon as the problem was addressed. The lady fell to the trap, and got the gift packet by paying Rs 13.35 lac to the fake customs officer.

In course of time, she realized that she had been taken for a ride. Kia had been chatting with her, by making her believe that he was in some foreign country. This case has been added to several similar cases that have happened in the past in the city.

Julia you should be a crazy woman/lady to trust a stranger to spare 13 lacs rupees. Is that your money or husbands ? Open your eyes if hard earned cash you would not have fallen to trap.

Vishu, Udupi, i agree wt ua comment. U shld ignore such people. Dat shows their own character. If a person doesn't understand whts good n whats bad, its waste to reply them. And Arnab's comment is not relevant to anyone here. It shows his inner conscience which is filled with dirty thoughts that he is expressing in public. Their ambition is just spoil the name of a lady either by hook and crook either in neighbourhood or in friend circle or publicly like dis. Frustration bro..

Haye haye Arnab let it go. You were superficial, she was a cheater. Just because youre salty about an old memory doesn't mean you should try to insult others for it. Calm down. Keep tarrying in the past and you'll never feel better. Well.... seeing how you comment, it's obvious your mindset is outdated and old.

Here I dont feel sorry for this lady as she herself had invited trouble.Without knowing a person personally ,sending money that too so big amount is not acceptable.Packet to her daughter?Which basis? we hear very often people make friendships on social accounts ,later dupe them .Hope she has kept rest money if any now safe .Atleast this lady could have asked somebody for a help before she dispatched money.

    People,

Nigeria is epicenter of these crooks....they typically hold UK Internet Phone + 44 Country Code...and operate from Nigeria ...possibly with Indian agents...

Typically this is their 'Modus Operandi ' ... this is not first or last scam...I have seen this story playing at least a dozen time in Daiji...

Please Daiji readers...educate your peers not to succumb to these crooks....

    Where is Jossey Sir???...

    ...Tak...Takk...

Julia and Gym Kia, here Julia and Kia are rhyming words . Immediately this case should’ be referred to one of the well known astrologer . Due to addicted usage of social media these kind of violations/offenses will increase day by day . Best option is to limited access to social media ! It is very difficult to trace the culprit
