Mangaluru, Dec 31: Speaking at a press conference held here on Wednesday December 30, former minister and MLA, U T Khader, sought clarification from the state government about the reasons behind abrupt postponement of foundation laying ceremony near Thokottu.
Khader said he is aware of efforts being made by certain quarters to link all and sundry incidents happening at Ullal to him. "In the past, separate sites had been identified for Beary Academy Bhavan and Abbakka Bhavan. Why this plan was changed later, and why was the foundation laying ceremony postponed? I want to know reasons. I will speak to the district in-charge minister and deputy commissioner in this regard," he said.
He recalled that when D V Sadananda Gowda was the chief minister, a grant of one crore rupees had been set aside for Abbakka Bhavan, and Siddaramaiah revised it to eight crore rupees. Therefore, there is no controversy regarding Abbakka Bhavan, he stated.
Khader blamed the state government of taking confusing decisions relating to coronavirus infection. He said that efforts to implement different policies in different parts of the state have given rise to confusion in the minds of the people.
He reasoned that if deputy speaker of the council, Dharme Gowda, had indeed committed suicide having been hurt by the unsavoury incidents at the house, those who made him to sit in the seat of the council chairman will have to share responsibility. He also expressed the view that Dharme Gowda was made a scapegoat in the incident.
Taluk panchayat president Muhammed Monu, leaders like Ishwar Ullal, N S Karim, Jabbar, and Devaki were present.
