Mangaluru: Illustrious journalists Vijay Kotian Padu, Bollajira B Ayyappa presented Pa Go awards

Mangaluru, Dec 31: Senior reporter of Kannada daily Vijaya Karnataka in the city, Vijay Kotian Padu, and senior reporter of Kaveri Times publication from Kodagu district, Bollajira B Ayyappa, who were chosen for the Pa Go rural reporting awards for the year 2019, were conferred with the awards at a function held in the city on Thursday December 31. These awards are being given annually by Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists Union. The award function was held at the Press Club.

Vijay Kotian Padu has been chosen for the award for his report on a girl student who defied death that was published in Vijaya Karnataka's November 25, 2019 issue. Bollajira B Ayyappa was picked for his report on the aggrieved ladies from Kalur involved with the making of food products for a living.

A selection committee comprising Prof Tukaram Poojary, president of Bantwal Rani Abbakka Tulu Study Centre; Dr Jayashree B Kadri, assistant professor of Mangaluru Car Street government first grade college and Kadri Navaneeth Shetty, retired assistant general manager of Times of India group, had picked the above journalists for the coveted awards.

Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner Dr K V Rajendra, presented the awards. President of Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists Union, Srinivas Nayak Indaje, presided over the function in which Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police, Laxmi Prasad B M, and deputy commissioner of police, Vinay Gaonkar, participated as chief guests.
