Mangaluru: Customs officials seize gold worth Rs 64.13 lac from Dubai returnees

Mangaluru, Dec 31: Customs officials at the Mangaluru International Airport on Wednesday, December 30 had arrested two passengers who had arrived from Dubai to MIA on flight IX 1814. 

Upon interrogation and interception, it was found that the men identified as Mohammed Zahir Aneez and Wasim Marzan were smuggling 1.26 kg of gold worth Rs 64,13,400 by way of rectal concealment.

Following the arrest of the accused, the commissioner of Customs, Imamuddin Ahmed, IRS, and joint commissioner, Joannes George, IRS, congratulated the team of Customs officers at Mangaluru airport led Dr Kapil Gade IRS, deputy commissioner, superintendent Shrikanth K, superintendent, Bikram Chakraborty, inspector, Praful Mittal and others for their vigilant action in preventing the smuggling activities.

    This is the high time that these stupid people to know that there are high density metal detectors which can detect gold in your possession. Only way to escape is having higher customs officials....!!!!????

    Very good job of customs. Hope many governments offices do the same for fraudsters who ran away from countries with billions of rupees to punish them.
