Mangaluru: Collision between two bikes - 18-year-old teen loses life

Mangaluru, Dec 31: A collision between two bikes near Padua College in Nanthoor has claimed the life of an 18-year-old student on Thursday, December 31.

The deceased has been identified as Hassan Thaishir (18) resident of CPC compound Kudroli, while the other student 20-year-old Mousin Aboobakkar who was also injured in the accident is a resident of Derlakatte.

Mousin was riding the bike while Hassan was the pillion rider who lost his life in the accident.

It is said that Mousin and Hassan were moving from Nanthoor to KPT, while another bike that was ridden by Sandesh was coming from KPT to Nanthoor.

When one bike took right turn near Padua towards Kadri Park, it collided with the other which cost Hassan his life. Meanwhile, the other bike rider Sandesh also sustained injuries in the accident.

Kadri traffic police registered the case.

    99% of the 2 wheeler riders in the state do not follow any traffic rules. Reckless riding at high speeds without helmets or otherwise with the helmets perched high on the foreheads is the norm. Weaving in and out of traffic putting other road users and pedestrians in danger is a common sight. Riding on the wrong side of highways/ roads to save on small amounts of petrol/ time happens all the time. The Mangalore MLA notices one Swiggy/ Zomato associate breaking the law and promptly it becomes a big story with press releases being sent out. But what about the thousands of violations which are happening daily under the very noses of our elected representatives/ the traffic police??? No one seems to be bothered.

    That cross road in front of Padua college is dangerous! Even the police sometimes can't do anything when there's Busy traffic. RIP

    Both the junctions at Nathoor are dangerous with heavy traffic and total confusion. Permenent solution is the need of the hour

    One is the junction you are talking about (the main one), and the other near Padua High School. This is not a junction actually, it's a place where 'U' turn is taken in a very unruly manner. Both sides from Nathoor towards KPT and the other way, vehicles take 'U' turn by cutting across the main road traffic. In the confusion, there have been many accidents taken place.

    Young boys and girls do not learn how to ride a bike or scooty - and the only way their parents learn is in the loss of their sons or daughters - so proves statistics!

    It;s rather sad but it is the truth of the matter - because before the birth of these
    Scooties, hardly any boy or girl would ride a Chetak or a Lambretta that has the hassle of understanding when to change gears, Motorbikes were meant for men.

    Nanthhoor junctions first at inter junction going to Kulshkar and @ Padau college both are very crowded an heavy traffic any given time. Some permanent solution need to be sought in this regard.
    Very tragic accident end of 2020.
    Youngsters especially bike riders need to exercise care and control speed limit.

    This crossing from both sides of the main road to Padua side road is very dangerous. At the entry point at Padua School as well as at the ending point from Vedamaayu side to the other main road towards Bondel.

    Either make this side road one-way, or make no-entry from one end before losing many more lives at the crossing.

    carelessness not looking at mirror/ taking sudden turn in zig zag manner / dismantling mirror has been fashion that's why cops fine a biker without mirror - RIP
