Bengaluru, Jan 1: Dr C N Ashwathnarayana, deputy chief minister and minister for skill development department has given good news on New Year's Day to the people of Karnataka. There is huge demand for the nurses from Karnataka in overseas countries and many hospitals have come forward to offer jobs.

To begin with, Britain has placed a demand for 1,000 nurses and it is being obliged by the government.

All the nurses, who are being sent to Britain, will be trained by KVTSDC (Karnataka Vocational Training and Skill Development Corporation Ltd). Britain government has fixed a package of Rs 20 lac per annum for these nurses. In order to recruit skilled nurses KVTSDC has entered into an agreement with Health Education England (HEE) and National Health Services (NHS) of Britain.

The minister said, "The government has established international migration centre in order to provide jobs in overseas countries. These nurses will be sent to Britain through this center. This center keeps continuous touch with them and monitors any issues. Any complaint can be raised to this center from Britain itself. Immediate assistance will be provided.

"Karnataka has abundant skilled manpower. This migration center is established with the intention of providing opportunities at global level to these unemployed youth. Department of skill development, entrepreneurship and livelihood has entered into an agreement with Public Affairs Center in order to provide suitable guidance, technical support and complementary services to the youth who wish to go to overseas countries for employment.

"In addition to nurses, KVTSDC has made one more agreement with Al-Durra Manpower Supply, a semi-govt company of Kuwait. Accordingly the company recruits experienced vehicle drivers, house boys and cooks to work in Kuwait. Preparations are done for this also. Talks between KVTSDC and government of Canada is in progress for a new agreement. Accordingly, the process of identifying eligible candidates for IT, Video game and Artificial Intelligence sectors, has started. The department has taken steps to get into agreement for employment and migration of youth from state to Montreal of Quebec in Canada."

Ashwathnarayan also said that KVTSDC is in touch with Kannada associations of various countries in order to contact suitable employers overseas.
