Udupi, Jan 1: People in Manipal celebrated New Year late night on Thursday December 31 defying orders issued by the deputy commissioner not to celebrate New Year making groups.
In a video, which has now gone viral, youth are seen driving their cars near Coin Circle in Manipal. The incident took place late night. People vacated the place only after the arrival of police personnel.
Youth who were driving around in cars near the circle dispersed when they heard police siren.
The police however refrained from taking action immediately. Police in traffic vehicles struggled hard to regulate traffic. They had to resort to mild lathi-charge against people who were standing all over the road.
