Udupi: CITU protests by setting gazette notifications of Farm Acts on fire

Udupi, Jan 1: CITU organization protested on Friday by setting fire to the gazette notifications of three Farm Acts and Electricity Act 2020.

CITU state president S Varalaxmi setting fire to the notifications in the tile workers auditorium, Kundapur said, "Farmers and labourers are being made scapegoats to protect the capitalists in the country. The year 2021 will be the year of the farmers and labourers and it is necessary to free the lives of farmers from the corporates."

CITU district chief secretary Suresh Kallagara, taluk convener H Narasimha, Dasa Bhandary, Susheela Nada, Nagaratna, Singari, Ashalatha and others were present.

Protests were also held in Karkala CITU office where notifications were set on fire. Shashidhar Golla, Balakrishna Shetty, Saroja, Ramesh and others were present.

Fishermen association leaders near Bannanje Narayan Guru auditorium, Udupi expressed anguish over the Acts.

More than 1,200 people voiced slogans against the union government near 10 tile factories in Kundapur and supported the protests. Construction workers in Kaup and Katpadi and beedi workers in Kundapur also protested.
