Mangaluru: Mortal remains of newborn baby found at Thota Bengre

Mangaluru, Jan 3: The mortal remains of a newborn baby was found floating on the banks of river Phalguni at Thota Bengre on Saturday December 2, under the limits of Panambur police station.

It is said that the incident came to light while MMS Madeena Fishing Boat returned to banks of Phalguni river after fishing activities. Boat workers Faizal and Rahim spotted the mortal remains of the baby floating on water. Immediately, after fishing out the body from the water, they informed the police.

According to police sources, it is suspected that the newborn girl baby is one or two days old. Somebody to hide the pregnancy and birth of a baby, might have thrown the baby or the mortal remains of the same, into the river. 

Panambur police inspector who visited the spot have registered a case.
