Bengaluru, Jan 11: Chief minister B S Yediyurappa on Monday lauded the welfare activities and public service rendered by the Suttur math in Mysuru.
The chief minister flew in to Mysuru by helicopter in the morning to participate in the 1061st Jayanti Mahotsav of the founder of the Suttur math Sri Adi Jagadguru Shivaratrishwar Shivayogi and also released the book, `Sri Suttureshwarara Shatakagalu.’
The founder of the Suttur math Sri Adi Jagadguru Shivaratrishwar Shivayogi had established the math on the banks of Kapila River ten centuries ago for the welfare of mankind and had rendered immense service to humanity.
The contribution of the founder of the Suttur Math and the math in diverse fields ranging from religious to spiritual, educational, social, cultural and literature was enormous, the chief minister said.
He said that Suttur math was in the forefront rendering service whenever people and the state faced challenges and natural disasters, including the fight against the COVID pandemic.
Suttur math pontiff, Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Swamiji presided over the function.
Cooperation minister and Mysuru district in-charge S T Somashekar, urban development minister Narayana Gowda, MLC H Vishwanath, MLAs S A Ramadas, G T Deve Gowda, L Nagendra, Niranjan Kumar, Tanvir Sait, N Mahesh, Ashwin Kumar and Mysuru urban development authority chairman H V Rajiv, Kannada actor Doddanna and film director S V Rajendra Singh Babu were present.
