Karkala, Jun 12: In an incident that occurred at Abbanadka in Nandalike village of the taluk on Friday June 11, a man got electrocuted after a live wire suddenly snapped and fell on him. His wife suffered burn injuries when she tried to move the cable away from her husband’s body. The deceased has been identified as Antony Ferrao (68).
Sevrine Ferrao (62), Antony’s wife, rushed out of her home after hearing cries of her husband, and found her husband struggling because of the snapped live wire that had fallen on his shoulder. When she tried to move the wire away, she suffered shocks and the wire remained stuck to her hands. A neighbourer named Paul, then rushed the spot and pushed the wire out of her hands with a wooden stick. However, Antony had breathed his last by then.

On the previous occasion, however, no major damage had occurred.
