Kundapur, Jan 16: The process of administering Covishield, a vaccine manufactured to control coronavirus was set in motion at Kundapur taluk hospital on Saturday.
The state government revenue department chief secretary, Mahendra Jain who set in motion its distribution said, "Today is a good day for our country. The people who were tired of coronavirus for the last one year are able to heave a sigh of relief. Let the Covid-19 leave the country at least after this and the country be free from it. Health workers will be given the vaccine in the first stage.”
It is decided to administer the vaccine to 100 health workers at Kundapur taluk hospital as part of the first stage. It was given to nurse Gayatri in the beginning.
President of the municipal council, Veena Bhasker Mendon, Kundapur taluk panchayat president, Indira Shetty, Kundapur sub-division assistant commissioner K Raju, district panchayat deputy secretary Kiran Padnekar, tahsildar Anandappa, taluk panchayat executive officer Keshava Shettigar, taluk health officer Dr Nagabhooshan Udupa, physician Dr Nagesh and others were present.
