Mangaluru: Silver, golden jubilees of religious life celebrated at St Raymond’s Convent

Mangaluru, Jan 16: The golden jubilee of Sr Selma BS and the silver jubilee of Sr Sagaya Selvi BS was celebrated at St Raymond’s Convent, Vamanjoor.

The thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration was celebrated by Fr Rohith D’Costa and Fr Alwyn D’Souza, the assistant directors of St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor. In his homily, Fr Alwyn D’Souza highlighted the fruitful years of service in the vineyard of God by both the nuns. He applauded their strenuous labour in imparting education to the children along with faith formation.



After the Mass, there was felicitation programme held in the Convent Hall. Sr Gracy Monica, the superior of St Raymond’s Convent, welcomed the guests and the gathered members on the occasion. Along with Sr Sagaya Selvi her parents of VMK Louis and Theresa Louis, Sr Selma, her neice Priya and nephew William and provincial superior Sr Cicilia Mendonca were present on the dais. Both the nuns were honoured with shawl and garland along with citation. Sr Rekha read out the citation of Sr Selma and Sr Jessy Preema of Sr Sagaya Selvi. From the part of family members of Sr Selma, Priya acknowledged the compassionate services of Sr Selma towards the family and motherly accompaniment in their lives. Joseph Crasta, the brother-in-law of Sr Sagaya Selvi applauded her vigorous zeal to follow the Lord through religious life. He recalled the past memories of accompaniment of the sister in the lives of the family members and for being a prayer warrior. Sr Cicilia Mendonca in her speech acknowledged the grateful services of the nuns towards the church, society and to the congregation. They indeed are the faithful stewards of the Lord in the garden of Bethany. The programme was winded with the grateful note by both the nuns appreciating the role played by the parents, family members and the members of the congregation in shaping their lives. 

Sr Jasmine Wilma compeered the day's programme followed by the fellowship meal. The family members along with the Bethany Sisters graced the occasion.
