Udupi, Jan 16: The municipal council has resumed repairs of road on both sides of Ambagilu-Tangadagadi Kalsanka two lane road that had remained incomplete. The work has been in progress since the last one month. The matter was referred to the municipal council last time and the members had urged to complete the work.
A tender worth Rs 1.93 crore was issued for construction of new Ambagilu-Tangadagadi road. The work had remained pending as those who issued the tender had not provided documents for technical evaluation. A report on this connection was published on Daijiworld website.
The road is used to enter Udupi and to reach Kalsanka. But it is risky for two-wheeler riders to use the road. The drainage pits were protruding out and there were several potholes elsewhere on the road. Two wheelers were likely to skid if they arrived fast. The works often posed more problems than the convenience.
The potholes are filled with powdered gravel. Only one way traffic is permitted from Tangadagadi till Ambagilu. Council engineer has expressed confidence that the patch work will be completed in a few days.
