Karnataka logs in 435 new coronavirus cases; 973 recoveries


Bengaluru, Jan 19 (IANS): In a healthy sign, only 435 new Covid-19 cases were registered in a day across Karnataka, while 973 patients recovered from the virus, said the state health bulletin on Monday.

"With 435 fresh cases registered on Sunday, the state's Covid tally increased to 9,32,432, including 8,033 active cases, while 9,12,205 patients recovered till date, with 973 discharged during the day," said the bulletin.

The infection claimed 9 lives in the last 24 hours, taking the state's death toll to 12,175 since the pandemic broke on March 8.

Bengaluru reported 193 new cases on Sunday, taking its Covid tally to 3,95,152, including 5,273 active cases, while 3,85,512 patients recovered so far, with 617 discharged during the day.

With 6 succumbing to the infection in the last 24 hours, the city's death toll rose to 4,366 till date.

Of the 177 patients in the intensive care units (ICUs) across the southern state, 74 are in Bengaluru hospitals, 11 in Kalaburagi and 9 each in Bidar and Mandya districts.

Out of 69,265 tests conducted on Monday, 2,823 were through rapid-antigen detection and 66,442 through RT-PCR method.

"Positivity rate for the day was 0.62 per cent and case fatality rate was 2.06 per cent on Monday," added the bulletin.

    vaccines is not sanjeevini, also not 100% acurate against covid, more over vaccines will start work some 1 month after taking 2nd Jab.
    dnt think that once u take vaccines u will live for ever.

    if a person died due road accident after taking 1st Jab also u people will blame vaccines.

    2 people died because not related with covid.
