Udupi: Gangadhar G set to to enter 'India Book of Records'

Udupi, Jan 20: Gangadhar G, a retired worker of RTO is all set to enter India Book of Records for covering maximum distance while swimming in lotus pose.

Speaking about creating this record Gangadhar said, "I have been teaching swimming free of cost for past few years. I will be attempting to create this record by tying myself with chains. I will be covering one km distance sitting in lotus pose. The minimum requirement for making the record is to cover 800 mtrs. The event will take place in Malpe Padukere beach on Sunday January 24. Officials of India book of records will judge the performance. The event will take place at 8.00 am," he said.

Gangadar has participated in many national and international competitions. He has won 31 gold medals, 16 silver and nine bronze medals in various competitions held between 2009 to 2019. He has instituted Jai Durga swimming class and is conducting swimming classes free of cost for children, elders and women. His students have received laurels in many competitions.

Vijay Kunder, Chandra Kunder Harsha Maindan Panduranga Malpe and others were present in the press conference.
