Mangaluru: 'BJP curbing farmers’ protest like British did during freedom struggle' - MLA U T Khader

Mangaluru, Jan 22: Former minister and MLA U T Khader on Friday January 22 said that the BJP-led union government is trying to curb the farmers’ protest, as the British curbed the freedom struggle during the pre-Independence struggle by canning and using water cannon against the freedom fighters.

Addressing a press meet at Congress Bhavan here, Khader said, "Citizens who are true patriots, should oppose the union government's farm law. This law is anti-national and anti-people. It is a threat to the people of India. This law will affect the minimum support price for farmers."

He also said that the new law would result in shortage of food grains for Public Distribution System.

Khader said the present law will not allow the authorities to hold raids on godowns where excessive food grains are stocked. This may also lead to an increase in the price for food grains, he said.

“The farmers have been protesting since three months but the union government has failed to understand their pain. “If this law will not affect farmers, why are they protesting for months?” he questioned.

Quoting Swami Vivekananda, Khader said, the neglect of masses would lead to downfall of the government. “As Congress is the voice of the people, we are supporting the cause and protests will be held in taluk levels,” he said.

Taking a dig at BJP-led Karnataka government, Khader said, “How teachers can complete 90% syllabus in a span of five to six months. The teachers and students are in confusion. This will also affect students who are pursuing class 10. The government has no vision in this regard. The government has failed to appoint guest faculty at schools and colleges. After BJP government came to power, a single guest faculty has not been appointed.”

Speaking on Republic TV's Arnab Goswami's leaked WhatsApp chat messages, Khader said it is really astonishing how the matters of internal security got leaked. “The government should sincerely probe this matter and take proper action against the violators of law in the interest of the nation,” he said.

Condemning incidents of dropping objectionable items into the offering boxes of Daivasthanas in the city, Khader said, "A few groups are trying to create confusion and discord in the society. I have urged the police commissioner to arrest the miscreants soon and punish them under stringent law so that such incidents will not be repeated in future.

“The BJP government and the police officials should not neglect such incidents. Instead, trace the culprits and punish them. Such incidents occur only when there is no fear,” he added.

District Congress president Harish Kumar said, "Supporting farmers’ protest, district Congress will hold protests in all taluks of the district."

Many protesters are in the Delhi protest with turbans are not Sikhs , it is conspiracy to brand Sikhs in bad light and to target normal Sikhs as Khalistanies & to restart the Khalistan movement by collateral damage . Genuine farmers movement is hi jacked by vested interest,. Even in England too the 50% of Khalistan flag holders are not Sikh

During Mangalore church attacks who attacked and assaulted innocent faithfuls, indefensible nuns and youth and then filed a false Somshekhar report against Christians???????????...........Your pseudo identity to pose as Christian will not get any followers for justifying atrocities on innocent christians. You will never condemn this incident to further prove that you are fake.
FYI, its congress govt in Punjab in spite your 1984 Sikh riots rhetoric and since 2014 its ‘Emergency Like Situation’ daily in India and going worse.

all the people know the church attackers are not our mangalorean Hindu brothers they will give their life for us, it was the work of outsiders like you, who have ruined the peace of my lovely city.

If those who are protesting backing congress then so be it for people’s cause. Then whom are you backing and protecting their interest????????...........If protestors are raising Khalistan Jindabad slogans and asking for terrorist release, BJP govt failed to produce IB report about separatists and failed to substantiate this allegation this will again add to govt’s failure to keep the borders secure. FYI, protestors are protesting peacefully and within rights.
BTW, did Amit Shah said in his election Bhashan in W. Bengal that all terrorists are eliminated by Modi-led govt????????????........Was he covering for terrorists??????......

    Khader Bhai,

Good to note, that you are back in the media.
Pls focus on our real issues.
Trust the masses...these PFI or SFI..etc..are all paid agents, as most already know. Just ignore them diverting you.

With foresight, Mottu Bhai, Yeddi, Modi will all be history at some stage....they know their fate.

    Focus on  priority SK issues...
Lack of mega projects despite the lame BJP MPs...etc
Not even a proper pot-hole free road to Mlr from Blr, after Hassan!

Remember the Gowda clan were smart enough to ensure mega-infrastructure is executed (not foundation stones) in their  own district.

Well, all know that Vijayendra is literally running the Govt from backdoor,  shifting all significant & centrally approved SK projects to other districts, not just the RAF camp or critical new highways &  railway projects....etc.
Ensuring most corrupt ministers are at his beck & call...
Banning our Shobha Akka from anywhere within the power circle...
Promoting intracine politics in Belgaum, Mandya, Tumkur, Mysore, Blr Urban & Rural too & other areas....

Remember, the Sun always sets down.

Well, you sure know a lot more ...
    Good luck!

Why are you behaving like a blind/deaf ? What was your reaction when the news came out that Reliance Retail signed agreement with Karnataka farmers to sell them paddy @Rs. 100/- more than the APMCs pay ?

Tell me, if this continues, how the farmers will benefit, and what will be the price of finished product when it comes to the market for you and me to buy ?

What is there to respect him, he is just MLA from Ullal, he is servent of the people who voted him, is he a farmer like sharad power, gowda and sons etc. the guy from Uttar Pradesh who is protesting is a close aid of Rajnath Singh and others lost elections after getting tickets from various parties, they are all multi millionaires, the real farmers are busy in their fields toiling day and night getting nothing. If you are for farmers pass laws in the states were the opposition is in power in favor of farmers, so they get maximum money for their yield.
