Kasargod, Jan 24: Two separate cases have been registered with regard to the murder of Mohammed Rafiq, who was assaulted and killed by a gang while buying medicine at a pharmacy at Ashwini Nagar here on the afternoon of Saturday, January 23.

Police, who have collected evidence from the CCTV footage, are investigating further. It is said that the deceased was murdered allegedly because he had eve-teased a girl. Relatives of the deceased have filed a complaint against several men who can identified at sight.

In the meantime, the girl who was said to be teased by the deceased, has also filed a complaint with the women police. Investigation is being carried out in this connection as well.

As per the preliminary details, the girl accused deceased Mohammed Rafiq of harassing her near the hospital. She screamed at Rafiq's approach, and on hearing her screams, some youths, who were present nearby, questioned Rafiq. This led to verbal arguments. Later when Mohammed Rafiq was returning after buying medicines from a pharmacy, a group of youths chased him and beat mercilessly.

Rafiq collapsed after the gang assaulted him. Though he was rushed to the hospital nearby, he breathed his last. Sources said that CCTV footage is available with the police in which Rafiq is seen being chased by the gang, however, police have said that confirmation on whether Rafiq died of assault or heart attack will be clear after the post-mortem report is out.

Police have said that there were no injury marks on the body. Hence the cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem.

The incident took place at around 2 pm on Saturday, when Mohammed Rafiq, a resident of Deli had come to a private hospital in Kasargod. Mortal remains of the deceased has been shifted to Kannur medical college hospital for post-mortem. The report of post mortem is expected on Sunday, January 24.

Rafiq has come all the way from Delhi to Kerala for treatment. Why he will harrass a girl in an unknown area? That too near the hospital?? He doesn't get girls to tease at Delhi? What excuses...!!! Who are these people to murder him? If he has done something, why there are no police? These people hit him as if Rafiq had done grievous offense towards this girl.. Very sad.

Police have said that there were no injury marks on the body. Hence the cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem. What a nice try by police to escape and let the killers get free. Polcie are trying to refer the case as heart attack and save the killers. As the issue was solved and deceased was returning after purchasing medicine, youths killed him purposely. This issue should be investigated thoroughly and 20 to 25 youths involved in the murder should be arrested under goonda act. Immediate compensaton of not less than Rs. 25 lakha should be declared to family of deceased and properties of the murderers should be ceased by Govt. In UP, illogic Govt of Bhogi is claiming any loss from public by charging wrong case on them. In Kasargod, these are murderers and should not be let free.
