Mangaluru, Jan 25: Rakesh Krishna, one among 32 children in the country to win Pradhan Mantri Rastriya Bal Puraskar 2021, spoke to media on Monday January 25 after interacting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi through virtual conference at zilla panchayat office here.

Speaking to media, Rakesh said, “My father is an agriculturist and hence, I came to know the basic problems of farmers which is problem of finding skilled workers resulting in lower food output. So using my knowledge of science and innovation, I wanted to contribute something for the farmers of India. My sister Rashmi Parvathy guided me through out who is also my mentor to do this multipurpose seed sowing machine called ‘Seedographer’ for systematic cultivation.

“‘The seedographer which I have made is manual where you can sow seeds. At the same time water and fertilizers can be added which can lead to high percentage of germination. I have tested this machine in our fields by sowing seeds of ragi, paddy and jowar. It took me 3 to 4 years to make this machine which weighs 15 to 18 kg.

“This machine will be a single time investment with a bit of maintenance cost. This will help the farmers as we all know that cost of labour is skyrocketing every day. I need to develop this machine further and make farming system unified so that it can be easily available for farmers. There is scope for refining the machine which can increase the efficiency like installing censors which can sense the moisture of soil and motors to make it automatic. I also want to do a research on more problems faced by farmers so that I can refine the machine more an answer farmers’ problems.

“I am extremely happy to interact with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Due to pandemic, this was a virtual conference. I hope in future I get a chance to meet him. I thank all my teachers, principals of my school and Expert College for their constant support in this journey of innovation,” he said.

Meanwhile, deputy commissioner Dr K V Rajendra felicitated Rakesh.

Rakesh’s parents Ravishankar K and Dr Durgarathna C was also present.

A good gesture from PM Modi. Again these types of PR stunts and event management skills will not help create jobs and improve the economy. Its time to step up and do some real development.

Lets applaud for the great work done by this young student, keeping our political affiliations apart.
Meanwhile, We all know that,BJP does not require any PR stunt. Today if an election is held, for sure , it will win by a bigger majority. And RaGA still has to contest from a safe constituency Kerala Wayanad to win on muslim votes.
