Bantwal, Jan 25: “The right to vote is a great honour to the citizens of the country. We should exercise our franchise with earnestness and responsibility,” said Bantwal tahsildar S R Rashmi.
She presiding over the national Election Day programme held by Bantwal taluk administration at Bantwal Mini Vidhan Saudha on Monday.
“It is necessary to be alert about violations in the election process and inform the concerned department,” she said.
Bantwal block education officer, Jnanesh said that a conscious society can be built later when students are taught about elections and democratic systems.
Taluk panchayat executive officer, Rajanna said that creating awareness about the right to vote among students is the need of the hour.
An oath about voting was administered. Winners of the competitions held by the district sweep committee were presented prizes. District education block convener, Sujatha Kumary and revenue inspector Rama Katipalla compered the programme.
Election Shirastedar Rajesh Naik, election first-class assistant Raj Kumar, Karthik, local Shirastedar Annu Naik and others were present.
