Mangaluru, Feb 1: Dr Ronald Sequeira, vice president, HR and operations Arvind Motors Private Limited, inaugurated first year BE class for the academic year 2020-21 here at St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC) on Monday February 1.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Ronald Sequeira said, "Choosing is an important aspect in life. It lays the platform for career path. You have chosen this college because of its discipline. You always want to choose the best in your life because you want to perform better. The choices you make give you happiness. In some cases, despite choosing the best you are not happy. Therefore, make choices wisely. Make a difference wherever you go, have an aim in life and give your best efforts towards achieving it."

Principal Dr Rio D'Souza said, "I see a lot of hope and smiles on the faces of the students. We have been through a difficult year and the pandemic has made it even more difficult. Online classes were going on but the students could not get a chance to see the campus, classroom and professors. The branches you choose will redefine what you are, and you have the opportunity to reinvent and redefine yourself towards your achievement. It is because of discipline, many students opt for this college. That is what we stand for. Make use of the benefits available to become great engineers and achieve greatness in the academics. Be proactive, take advantage and initiative in doing something in the stream that you choose."

Meanwhile, students were honoured for their performance in the PU board exams.

Fr Wilfred Prakash D'Souza, director, SJEC said, "You have chosen the right college which has a conducive atmosphere for the students, state-of-the-art facilities. The college will be granted autonomous status by next year. Students are very anxious about their studies, future, faculty, stay and companion. You need to grow to a higher level, need to be dedicated and committed as you go ahead in the academic year. If you need to have a happy life in future, then you have to struggle now.”
