Bantwal: Three Youth on Swimming Spree at Netravati River Missing

Bantwal, Jun 22: Three youth who went out for a swim in Netravati river near Panemangalore here on Monday June 21 have gone missing.
The missing youth have been identified as 28-year-old Chandrakanth, son of Ramappa Poojary, 22-year-old Ravi, son of Gangayya and Abubakker Siddique, son of Hasanabba, all of whom are residents of Narikombu village, near here.
The motorcycle borne youth first tried to swim in the Netravati River at Shamboor village, where the locals restrained them to venture into the river. Then the youth rode to Panemangalore, here where they parked their motorcycle, hung their clothes and belongings including mobile phones to the motorcycle and set out to swim.
The locals spotted the motorcycle and mobile phone ringing from one of the trouser on Tuesday June 22 early morning. Meanwhile, when the locals responded to the phone call, it was learnt that these youngsters had gone missing and their parents were making frantic calls to know their whereabouts. Soon the local police were informed about the possible case of drowning.
Bantwal circle inspector Nanjunde Gowda and town sub-inspector Vivekanand are at the location, since Tuesday morning directing the rescue team of local divers. Fire brigade personnel have arrived from Mangalore, to trace the bodies of missing youth.
