Chamarajanagar, Feb 12: The district and sessions court here, which also happens to be the special designated court for cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), awarded sentences to three persons including a father-son duo on Thursday February 11 in a case pertaining to teasing and harassing a school girl.

Anand and Negendra from Ramapur in the district have been handed down six months each of imprisonment, while Anand's father, Madappa, has been asked to remain behind the bars for a year.

Anand (20) and Nagendra (21) were sexually harassing a school girl by following her in a motorbike, duly passing lewd remarks, when people living in the neighbourhood noticed them and rushed to catch hold of them. The two ran away, leaving behind their motorbike. The next day, Anand's father, Madappa, came to the spot, hurled abuses at the girl and her mother, besides posing death threat.

Judge of the court, Sadashiva S Sultanpuri, who conducted the hearing, sentenced Anand and Nagendra to six months each of jail terms apart from a fine of Rs 5,000 each. Madappa has been found guilty of indirectly supporting his son's wrongdoing, and therefore has been given a sentence of one year and a fine of Rs 10,000.
