Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Feb 12: The BJP high command has served show cause notice to Vijayapura MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal for 'tarnishing' the image of the party by giving public statements on the uncertainty of chief minister Yediyurappa's position in the state.

The high command has asked Yatnal to explain the reasons for indulging in anti-party activities. In its show cause notice the high command said that any issues need to be resolved within the party forum. Instead of that repeatedly giving statements that embarass the leaders of the party as well as the party itself tarnished the image of the party. This is considered as anti-party activity, the party has said, and sought clarification from Yatnal.

Yatnal was repeatedly giving statements to the media that very soon chief minister of Karnataka would be changed and current CM Yediyurappa would be dethroned. In addition, he had also publicly accused some of the MLAs of BJP to have secured ministerial positions by threatening the CM.

Recently, union minister Sadananda Gowda had also criticised Yatnal and said that it is not right on the part of Yatnal to anti-party statements in public forum. If he has any issues the same needs to be brought to the notice of state president or national leaders of the party. Speaking on streets is not good for his future.

Yatnal had repeatedly tried to send message to the opposition parties that all is not well within BJP by giving anti-party statements. In the meeting that was chaired by CM Yediyurappa, Yatnal had openly taken to task the CM on many issues including distribution of grants to develop constituencies. BJP leaders had clarified that there is no need to take the statements given by Yatnal seriously. In addition, the state BJP leaders also mentioned that High command will take action on Yatnal's anti-party statements.

Many state leaders had also conveyed the anti-party behaviour of Yatnal to BJP high command. This matter was discussed in the state executive meeting of BJP, which was held under the leadership of state incharge Arun Singh. State BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel had also compalined to the disciplinary committee of the party against the behaviour of Yatnal.
