IAF Approaches Delhi HC to Recover Dues from Deve Gowda

New Delhi, Jun 29, (PTI): The Indian Air Force has approached the Delhi High Court to recover dues amounting to nearly Rs 54 lakhs from former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda for the use of official aircraft allegedly for non-official purposes.

The force has been trying to recover the dues from the former prime minister since 1996-97 when the alleged use of the IAF planes was made for purposes other than official, a series of RTI replies show. "It is mentioned that Chandrashekhar, P V Narasimha Rao, H D Deve Gowda and V C Shukla had availed airlift facilities of IAF for non-official purposes during their tenure as Prime Ministers and Cabinet Minister," IAF had said in an RTI reply in 2008.

According to IAF, it has to recover dues of about Rs 5.91 crore from Chandrashekhar, Rs 54.61 lakh from Deve Gowda and Rs 4.60 lakh from former Union Minister V C Shukla. It had said the amount was due from their "political parties". "A case for recovery of outstanding amount against former Prime Minister H D Devegowda for his non-official use of IAF aircraft during his tenure as PM is pending in the court of Registrar, High Court of Delhi. The case is at an admission stage. The next date of hearing in July 1, 2010," the IAF said in the RTI reply dated June 23, 2010 on the issue.

The force said Defence Ministry has resorted to various legal and administrative measures including filing of civil suits to recover the amount. The civil suit filed against Chandrashekhar in Delhi High Court in 2001 has been dismissed on January 24, 2008 as he passed away. Based on the advise of Ministry of Law and Justice, an appeal is proposed to be filed in the Delhi High Court to recover airlift dues from his legal heirs/political party," the Air Force had earlier said in an RTI reply dated June 30, 2008 to activist S C Agrawal.

Lydia Lobo, aint you trying to divert the attention from Gowda to yeddy? well, yeddys story perhaps in news in another 4 years. no matter, its the party which comes first and people tend to change their views based on political party and individual likings else there would have been something for you to talk on current issue than dragging it over assumptions?

I am surprised to see why IAF has come out with this issue only now. IAF being a responsible defence unit, should not have left this case so loose and step further to recollect the outstanding. Nevertheless, its not too late now.. Good step taken by IAF and hope that HC will give out a favorable judgement in favour of IAF. Our local political leaders take full due advantage of our defence forces, unlike in other countries. These so called POLITICIANS should be killed in front of public, which would be a lesson to fellow citizens. Hand over the country in the hands of defence forces and surely there would be a difference in everybodys life.

These politicians are only good at playing cruel joke on innocent farmers/poor citizens. They instigate them with fiery hate speech full of vulgar language under the pretext that the outburst in due to the plight of farmers. The mob or any element in it invariably will pelt stones on police and damage public property in the disguise of peaceful protest. They do this mischief in spite of knowing the universal fact that police if attacked will never be silent spectators and will not listen to their own fathers leave alone politicians or higher ups.

Enter the TV channels after the spark is ignited and show policemen beating up the mob and they happily put it on continuous replay loop thus pouring petrol to fire. While theses cowardly politicians sit on the safety of home and start passing further comments like we are ready to sacrifice our life for farmers. We will go to any extent to get justice bla… bla.. bla… instead of being on the front line.

Any person who is not bonafied to use state fecility other than official use should be reembursed by said individual of the money incurred to his/her visit or political party.54 lakh is not a big money for JDS to repay to IAF.This clearly shows how our political people are accountable for the public.By the by our CM Yeddy unoffially visiting frequently to temples and Mutts s and even one time in Tamil Nadu, who sanctioned one crore for a temple. What were those trips considered to be????????????????
