Mangaluru, Feb 18: The installation of Rotaract Club in Besant Women’s College, department of commerce was held on February 16 in the MCom seminar hall.
In the absence of outgoing president Rtr Kavyashree Rotary president, Rtn Archibald Menezes called the meeting to order and handed over the proceedings to master of the ceremony.
After the invocation, the staff in charge Dr Raghavendra welcomed the gathering. After the traditional lighting of the lamp by dignitaries, faculty in-charge of last academic year Anupa Baliga read out the Rotaract club report for the academic year 2019-2020.
Rotary president Rtn Archibald inducted the president Rtr Preethika into office by collaring and handing over the gavel. Rotaract chairman Rtn Jayprakash Rao and youth service director Rtn Vinod D’Souza inducted the other office-bearers. Rotaract president Rtr Preethika gave her acceptance speech.
College principal Dr Satish Kumar Shetty in his address called upon the students to make their club a model Rotaract club followed by a message by youth service director Rtn Vinod and Rotaract chairman Rtn Jayaprakash Rao.
Rtn Archibald Menezes gave his presidential address. It was very informative about the Rotary and Rotaract movement and projects. The very presence of college correspondent and secretary of the management committee of Women’s National Education Trust, Devanand Pai and the member of the board and secretary of Rotary Club, Mangaluru North Rtn Ganesh Bhat showed the respect and importance they place to the Rotaract movement and to the Rotary Club of Mangaluru.
Devanand Pai gave a very meaningful message to the students asking them to give more back to the society and the public through the Rotaract Club. A formal vote of thanks was given by Rtr Fiona. The programme came to an end with the singing of the national anthem.
Club secretary and M CRtr Chirashree systematically compered the programme ably assisted by staff in-charge Dr Raghavendra.
