Bengaluru, Feb 19: Retired director general of police of Karnataka and BJP leader Shankar Bidari, has now expressed disappointment at the failure of the central government in general and Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi in particular. Through a series of Facebook posts, Bidari who gave vent to his outrage, attacked Modi by saying that his promises have been proved fake and he has failed.
"When Modi rose to power in 2014, I was enthusiastic. I believed that Modi will take people with him and change the country's fortunes. With this in mind, I extended my support to him on the issues of currency note demonetisation and removal of article 370. I am now disappointed and feeling let down. Modi too has failed," he stated.

Bidari questioned whether Nehru, Shastri, Morarji, Indira etc were idiots to create national assets by nationalising foreign oil companies, insurance companies, and public sector units. “I never thought that national assets created by them will so soon be put up for sale to foreign companies," Bidari stated, expressing his anger at the privatisation moves of public sector companies proposed by the present government.
He said that there were reports that after demonetisation, thousands of crores of demonetised currency notes were exchanged for legal tender through cooperative banks in Karnataka and elsewhere illegally. He wanted to know what action the Reserve Bank of India took to act against the guilty.
On the issue of Krishna River Valley, he noted the area has stood favourable to the BJP since 1999. He recollected that Modi had spoken about not wasting even a drop of water. He noted that even after seven years of reposing trust in Modi, 300 tmc of water allocated from Krishna to Karnataka is going waste.
"I expected Modi to weed out of the system political personalities facing corruption and serious crime allegations. But in the last seven years, nothing was done. Your promises have been proved futile, and you have failed," he lamented. He said that people step into public life to do something good for the people, and if that is not possible, it is better to walk out of public life and stop continuing to cheat the nation, its people and themselves.
