Kundapur, Jul 5: The taluk unit of the International Federation of Karnataka Christian Association (IFKCA), Bangalore, was inaugurated here on Sunday July 4.

IFKCA president Ronald Colaco inaugurated the taluk unit in a function held at Hotel Julio International on Sunday morning and presided over the function.

In his inaugural address, Colaco appealed to all fractions of Christians to be united for the sake of protecting the interests of the community in the wake of rising attacks on churches and violence targeted at the community by some communal forces.

“The toil of missionaries is manifested in well-known educational and healthcare institutions in the country where human dignity is valued irrespective of any biases”, he said.

He called upon the community to take an earnest interest in politics, administration, and public service, which would give much needed support to the community.

Fr Alban D’Souza, vicar of Kundapur deanery and parish priest of Holy Rosary Church, Kundapur, Fr Philip Nellivila, principal, St Thomas Residential School, Byndoor, Fr David Crasta, vicar general, St Mary’s Cathedral, Brahmavar, and Fr K S Yesudas, C S I Church, Kundapur, were the chief guests on the occasion.

IFKCA general secretary Joachim Serrao, and convener Denis D’Silva, were the guests of honour.

Fr D’Souza said that differences in local organizations of the community should not in any way hinder the united struggle against injustices that are caused by vested interests.

Fr Crasta stressed the need to be identified foremost as Christians rather than elaborating on factions.

Colaco honoured Peter D’Almeida, John Mathew, and Oswald Rebello, for their contributions to the IFKCA - Kundapur taluk unit.

Fr D’Souza blessed the new office of IFKCA taluk unit located at Fred’s Complex.  Fr Anil from Trasi parish and Fr Michael Lobo from Kundapur were also present.

Over 1,000 people were present on the occasion.

The children of Holy Rosary parishioners and local CSI Church performed a welcome dance choired by Shaila Bet Group.

Johnson D’Almeida welcomed the gathering.  Alwyn Quadros proposed vote of thanks.  Fleecy D’Souza and Rupas Boretio compered the programme.

This is my humble comment to mr.kuldeep,s comment against church and its traditinal culture.Priests are the men of God and they are doing the work of prophets and apostles, they are not mere poojarys offering pooja in the church rather leaders councilors and a good guide who shows the path to the lord and utter their sound against the social evils of the society.

The laity always respect the clergy who are interceding for them before the almighty. So we have to maintain our culture and tradition. They have sacrificed their precious life for the good of the people and society they should respected everywhere and there is nothing wrong if they promot politics for maintaining peace and harmoney in the society .In this regard kuldeep must rethink his comment and are you ready to do work in the midst of poor and downtrodden as our priests and nuns do.

I had an occasion of meeting Ronald at Moti Mahal Hotel several years ago at a meeting and I was indeed very impressed with his strategies and concepts. Since I have been spending a lot of time in U.S.A. I have not met Ron for many years. Ron is a peoples' man and is working for the people of India and more particularly Karnataka. Recently Ron was in Karwar trying to bring the people together not to fight but to present our legitimate demands when called for. Ron's innovative ideas will go a long way in getting the Christians together and bind them together.

I wish there were more people like Ron to make this world a happier place to dwell in.

    DEAR RONALD,
IT IS REALLY A WONDERFUL CONFIDENCE TO THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY TO BE UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF YOU AND AT LEAST NOW THE CHRISTIANS HAVE TO GET UP FROM THEIR DEEP SLEEP THINKING THAT SOMEONE WILL DO SOMETHING WHEN THER IS A PROBLEM. REALLY WE SHOULD BE UNITED AS IN THE SAME WAY LIKE OTHER COMMUNITIES AND THERE IS NO ONE TO SAY WHY YOUR COMMUNITY IS UNITED. UNITY BUILDS A STRONG FUTURE SPECIALLY TO THE YOUNG GENERATION. WELL DONE MR. COLACO. ALWAYS FOR YOU AND WITH YOU.

Very impressive comment Mr. Bhandary. Religious leaders of all religions should try to improve & maintain peace & harmony among people of various religions which has been totally damaged by politicians. We are all Indians and we should unite & work together towards the progress of the country. Also, we need more hospitals, schools, old age homes instead of Churches/Mosques/Temples/Mutts. Vande Mataram !

Goans,Mangaloreans,Malayalis are all adventurous people,They always go in search of green pastures,That is the reason the coastal culture has spread all over the world. We had only the great George Fernandes who is unfortunately fighting a battle for his life,And our other so called leaders are only interested in promoting themselves and their family members in social and cultural activities,I feel so happy to see that Harry Goveas is doing wonderful work in Mangalore in promoting Konkani culture. Our Priests and Nuns are doing great jobs par excellence.our educated youth should come forward and lead the konkani community as a whole.I am proud to see Justice Saldhana taking lead in Bangalore.Lastly I would like to mention Harry D'souza is running his own news Paper The United Christian Voice in Bangalore.

Hi Mr. Lancelot, I am with you so far the priest in your community is called to bless and invoke prayers at the auspicious occasions. But the uplifted culture of your community where hyper clericalism is norm has stunted the growth of lay leadership. That is what my observation is. In a post colonial period State (politics) and Church (Religion) are separated because religion is a personal matter while administration, especially, democratic is of the people, for the people and by the people through party politics. While your priests can’t serve in active politics their wielding of power in all spheres is of no help to your community. Suddenly Mr. Colaco is likened to “The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn” (Emerson). May he be a beacon of hope to your community bereft of lay leadership?

Mr. Colaco, May God bless you, protect you in all the ways. When you alone do so much, I feel priests can do even better as they address huge Christian gatherings on Sundays and so on. Instead of saying some common cermon they can prepare something good which will really help our community to grow. May God bless all your efforts.

When Dr. Billy Graham met late Pope John Paul II in Vatican, he  told Graham that "we are brothers".
Until the persecution was started, the Christian Churches were frangmented in between the walls
of denominationalism, but the  fire of persecution brought a greater unity among the believers
    of all Churches.

This is the hour of unity and through united effort, the Christian  community can protect their interests, also can fulfil the  commission of Jesus Christ.

When the earthly ministry of  Jesus was at the final stage,  He prayed a very touching and solemn prayer " Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through
their word That they all may be ONE as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast send me" John 17:20,21.

It is the crying passion of our Lord Jesus that we believers of all denominations are united in divine
love to undertake the mission that Jesus has entrusted with us. God may richly bless Mr. Ronald Colaco for taking the lead. Let us shine forth in a darkened world with the light of Jesus Christ.

    REALLY GREAT MR.RONALD COLACO.
YOU HAVE BEEN SENT BY GOD IN THIS WORLD TO ENLIGHTEN THE MINDS OF THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY WHO ARE STILL IN THE DARK SIDE. THIS IS THE TIME THAT CHRISTIANS SHOULD WALK,AND WORK TOGETHER HAND IN HAND, NOT FOR PRESTIGE AND PRIDE BUT WORK HARD TO BRING TOGETHER THE LOST AND SCATTERED AND COME UP WITH NEW ACHIEVEMENTS WHICH WILL PROTECT OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS ,YOUTH AND CHILDREN SO THAT THEY WILL NOT BE A VICTIM TO VIOLENT ACTS.MR.RONALD ENDORSE ME AS A MEMBER OF YOUR ASSOSCIATION SO THAT IN THIS WAY I MAY BE OF SOME HELP TO THE COMMUNITY.

Good initiative of International Chrisian federation of Karnataka. It should spread all over India for all the Christians. If we see the past where the chrisians protested but continued again because of our peaceful protest. l because we are peaceful people but when anybody target our people there is a need for greater unity then nobody dare to touch us or the religius leaders .We not only should unite during criss but alwyas whenever there is crisis all over India. In norhtern parts priests and nuns sufffering silently. We should support them during any such calamities occurs. Dont give any chance for furhter attacks on curch or sacred places.Hope Chrisian federation will do the needful steps. Hope for the best.

It is a good move, But would like to know:
    1. Whe you say Karnataka cristian federation, R U including kannada, tamil, coorgi, marathi Christians of karnataka or only konkanies
    2. You people call for secular are u realy secular? You will make konkani fedaration mangalorean federation etc but when you see there you will see only konkany cristians are there?
so where is unity and secularism

It is Indias bad luck that we have caste, language, regision and religion based unity and calling for other people support through secularisim and open mindedness

It is time that Christen community in Karnataka needs to realize that it has to separate State from Church and keep its priest in the church and laity on socio-political dais. See the big presence of the clergy on the dais what does this convey to others? That we are worst than BJP. It is in the hands of the bishops to be sensible, that they tell the priests not to meddle with socio-political awakening taking place among the laity after what happened two years ago in Mangalore. Where were the priests then? May the tribe of Colaco increase in Karnataka/India.
