Nasik, Jul 6:
“Our country is an abode of many religions and diverse cultures.  Religious practices contribute to social welfare and inspire one to indulge in religious virtues.  It also promotes global peace among brethren.  This objective has been fulfilled by offering the Vaikuntadham and Socio-Cultural Complex to the society”, said Sri Vishweshateerta Swami of Pejavar Mutt, Udupi.

Swami Vishweshateerta was speaking after inaugurating the newly-constructed Vaikuntadham and Socio-Cultural Centre at Panchavati on Sunday July 4.  Both buildings will serve as city branch of the Pejavar Mutt.

The chief donors Nagendra and Aruna Acharya, former Mayor Bal Saheb Sanaf, local corporator Samadhan Jadav, Tulu Sangh – Nashik president Bhaskar Shetty, entrepreneur Gangadhar Amin, BSKBA Mumbai president Suresh S Rao Kateel, organizer A S Rao, and CIDCO former top officer Anant B Arvind were the chief guests on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Suresh S Rao said that the traditional daily worship brings one closer to God.  Meanwhile, he sought divine grace on people in order to enlighten all those who seek heavenly bliss in their life on earth.

“Spirituality has conquered science in many respects and India is reckoned in the world for seeking spirituality and tranquility”, said A S Rao.

Swami Vishweshateerta honoured the chief donors Nagendra and Aruna Acharya, Vastu consultants Ashish Ranadive and Suruchi Ranadive, project co-ordinator B Karvir, trustees and others on the occasion.

Various Vedic rituals and ‘pujas’ were performed by the priests Ramdas Upadyaya, Prakash Acharya, and Hari Bhat.

Swami Vishweshateerta also planted a few saplings in the building complex.

Entrepreneur Sanjeev Bangera, Pejavar Mutt Mumbai caretakers Hari Bhat, Srinivas Bhat, Joshi, and Surendra Kumar Hegde were present on the occasion.

The programme began with prayer song by the local women.  Ramdas Upadyaya welcomed the gathering.  Vijay Kumar Shetty, Damodar Poojary, and Ravi Shetty compered the programme.

My due respect to you Mr. Satish Bhandary for your candidness. You are a true Hindu-Christian-Muslim.

Religious thinking is much different from political thinking. Religious thinking would analyze, evaluate things and take actions based on religion, which in a lot of cases doesn't go with the flow of reality. But political leaders would evaluate, and make decisions based on facts and reality, and on what will be best for the country.

Religion and politics are two different things, and if they are mixed with each other, troubles may start to rock and roll. Religious people should follow what they believe in and not use it as power.

I appreciate the comment of Sandeep Rai. Hindu religion is ruined by the internal people than anyone. No one dares to talk about so called Minorities, as it raises the alarm of Communal, while commenting on Hinduism is always Secular!!!

I request Hindu brothers and Sisters to be careful when you comment on issues like Swamijis, Hinduism, etc. If we can not protect Hinduism, we also not have right to kill it.

    Regards

    Shiv

As long as any religious/spiritual leaders promote harmony/love/spiritual values and work for the betterment of the community they represent, they are respected and loved by all communities. There is no harm in doing healthy politics which can bond people and bring in peace. But as far this seer is concerned, he is welknown for his religious bias and anti muslim/christian stand. His inflamaroty speeches in mangalore has resulted in communual clashes. He is known to have sown the seed of discord amongst the other seers of Udupi mutts. If he fights of Petraos or for the people of Nandikur, it is fine. But if he ploticise religion it is not fine. Every religious leader should understand his social responsibilities and accountabilities. Why 7 other seers of Udup mutts are not in the politics or in the lime light. This swami has been in the wrong news from time to time. No swami should be against humanity and human values, where as this seer is against muslim/christians who are creation of the same God whom he worship. Are they not human beings. This swami hates those who dont agree with his thinking. Is it democracy? People should be afraid of God and seers/mullahs/priests should lead by examples and be the role model for the followers. Politics of secular, unity is welcome and politics of devision and fundamentalism is not welcome.

Santhosh Bhandary! Critics from same communities are much better than anyone else from the universe. I hope your concern is genuine with valid evidence? I am not sure and never came across any such abuse on minorities. Mean time we never consider any swamijis as equalant to god as we Hindu do not beleive in human god or goddess (contrary to beleif). Its time for another Swami Vivekanda or Sri Narayanaguru for the society to uplift the Hindu religion and there is no problem these swamijis involved in any politics as long as its for betterment of people.

Mr. Shoukath Hussain, I don't know if your comments are towards Pejavara swamiji or not. But wanted to make sure that he do not belong to any particular party. He works towards improvement of Hindu religion. If anybody think that he is pro BJP man, they are wrong. He is participating in the movement against the Nandikur power project which is harmful for the environment, turning Netravathi river and many other issues. Please don't bring politics in this matter.

My thoughts after reading comments from Mr Bhandary and Sudhir. I am not referring to Pejavar Swamiji. This is a general opinion. For the people religious leaders are like living Gods on this earth. This is equally applicable to hindu, muslim, christian or any other religion. We look up to them for our spiritual needs and guidance. The moment they get into party politics they lose their reverence, respect and holiness. They will be no different than the common man.

Very impressive comment Mr. Bhandary. Religious leaders of all religions should try to improve & maintain peace & harmony among people of various religions which has been totally damaged by politicians. We are all Indians and we should unite & work together towards the progress of the country. Also, we need more hospitals, schools, old age homes instead of Churches/Mosques/Temples/Mutts. Vande Mataram !

    Santhosh,

As a citizen of India he has all the rights to participate in the politics of India. I would say he is much better than most of us who just sit here and give sanctimonious advises rather than doing any good.

Congratulations on the new branch of Pejavar Mutt. We wish it will cater to the spiritual needs of many religious people. India is home for all religions and overall people live in harmony. By law it is a democratic and secular nation. We welcome all religions to grow and prosper. Fundamentally all religions advocate tolerance and peaceful co-existence.

With my due respect to Pejawar Swamiji I have a suggestion. In the best interest of the society he should stop interefering in active politics. Also he should stop making inflamatory remarks on minorities from time to time. Being a senior and most respected religious leader he should give highest priority to communal harmony and peaceful co-existence.
