Mangalore, Jul 6: Orthopaedic surgeon, senior professor and chief of Orthopaedics department Yenepoya Medical College and Hospital, Mangalore Dr M Sudhakar Shetty was felicitated and conferred with the state level prestigious “Doctors Day Award”, recently. Dr. Shetty is the only doctor from undivided Dakshina kannada district to be adorned with this coveted award.
He was conferred the award at the Doctor’s Day celebrated by department of medical education of the State in commemoration of the birth anniversary of West Bengal former Chief Minister Bharataratna Dr B C Roy at Jnana Jyothi Auditorium, Central College here. The award was bestowed in recognition of his exemplary achievements and in appreciation of yeomen services to the community and academic excellence in the field of orthopaedics. The award comprises a plaque and a citation.
Governor H R Bhardwaj inaugurated the celebrations. Minister for medical education Ramachandre Gowda and home minister Dr V S Acharya were the chief guests on the occasion. Local MLA Dinesh Gundu Rao presided.
The secretary of medical education Vittal Murthy, director of medical education Dr A R Aruna, vice-chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, Dr S Ramananda Shetty and chairman of award selection committee Dr C N Manjunath were present.
