Brahmavar, Mar 3: "In the fight against levying toll charges on the locals at Sastan tollgate, we have become victorious. If Navayuga company begins to collect toll charges from the locals again, we will carry on fight for the shifting of the tollgate that has been illegally functioning within the town panchayat limits," warned president of Sastan Heddari Jagruti Samithi, Shyam Sundar Nairy

He was addressing the participant of a meeting of the Samithi held on Tuesday March 2 at Sastan.

At the meeting, future activities of the Samithi were discussed. It was decided to turn the Samithi into a registered association. The meeting also decided not to confine the activities of the Samithi to toll issues, and expand it to cover other highway issues like haphazard highway work, dangerous junctions, works which need to be taken up in future etc and to fight for these issues. The Samithi also decided to admit everyone who resides between Kundapur and Udupi as its members.

Secretary of the Samithi, Allwyn Andrade, compered the programme.
