Udupi: National athlete Abin Devadiga inaugurates three-day district police sports meet

Udupi, Mar 4: The three-day Udupi district police sports meet was inaugurated by national athlete and Indian Books of Record holder Abhin Devadiga on Thursday, March 4. The event was held at Mahatma Gandhi sports stadium, Ajjarkadu here.

Inaugurator of the event Abhin Devadiga said, "During the Covid-19 period, the police have worked hard day and night leaving their families aside. As a result of that, we are living peacefully today. Everybody has talent in music, sports, art and so on. Parents and society should recognise their talent. Today students are addicted to bad habits like drugs and losing their life. This should not happen with anyone. If he one an opportunity, the person will not be getting into any bad habits because it will keep the person busy in the activity".



District superintendent of Police N Vishnuvardhan welcomed the gathering and said, "The sports meet is organized for motivating police personnel and to enhance sports spirit in them. The sport is being conducted now because of Covid 19 pandemic. The sports will be held for three days from March 4 to 6,. Let all police participate in sports events," the SP said.

Athlete Abhin Devadiga received guard of honour from the different police squad. A beautiful march past and sports torch was presented during the event.

Additional superintendent of police of the district Kumarachandra, DySPs of three sub-divisions Bharat Reddy, Sadananda Nayak and Srikanth Nayak, PSIs of the Police stations were present.
