US$100,000 Scholarship for Mangalorean Janice D'Souza

Mangalore, Jul 13: It’s not every time that opportunities knock your door. But with hard work and efforts few determined people aim high and make their dreams come true.
Mangalorean girl, Janice Shainy D’Souza who completed her pre-university studies at St Aloysius College has received a full scholarship worth US$100,000/ to pursue a four- year under graduate course at Berea College, Kentucky, USA.
Over 1000 students had applied for the scholarship and Janice has the rare privilege of being one among the 30 international students who got selected.
Janice was a topper in academics throughout her school education. She scored highest marks in Psychology in the pre-university board exams. She has participated in many inter-collegiate competitions like quiz, vocabulary events, human resource events and has bagged prizes.
Janice, is also volunteering for a NGO called Make a Difference (MAD). She was vice-president of Public Relations in Mangalore. She is also involved in charity works. On weekends, she teaches English to under-privileged children in ashrams.
Janice has opted for International Relations and Psychology as her subjects in undergraduate level. She has also plans of answering civil service examinations upon returning back to India.
She is the daughter of Vincent D'Souza and Margaret D'Souza.
